For all types of companies, it is mandatory to declare an address in Turkey. Typically, this would be the primary office, shop, or facility where the company’s main activities take place.
As part of the company formation process, an officer from the trade registry visits this declared address.
Virtual Office
If the company does not require a physical office or facility, a virtual office can be used instead. There are several virtual office service providers, including well-known global brands and local providers. At a minimum, you can opt for an official address only, without additional services like shared or dedicated office space. Officer visits will be conducted at the virtual office address. During the visit, the founders or their authorized representatives must be present to provide the necessary documentation and respond to any inquiries.
Renting an Office / Commercial Facility
If you rent an office or commercial facility from another company, the landlord will issue an invoice that includes the rent amount plus VAT (20%), which you are required to pay. However, if the landlord is an individual rather than a company, no invoice is issued—you simply pay the agreed rent. In this case, you must declare the rent amount to the government monthly and pay a withholding tax (20%) accordingly. In this case, having another company as the landlord is generally preferable.
An address change is possible at any point during the company’s lifetime; however, it involves some administrative effort and incurs certain costs.
